Unofficial Audi A9 concept model features color-changing technology for the body and roof.
Disclaimer: This is not an official Audi design, but it is surely something enjoyable for Audi fans.
The Spanish designer Dani Garcia is the inventor of this concept design study of an imaginary Audi A9 model. The A9 is a saloon / sedan coupe which would be located above the A8 and take its place as Audi’s flagship model. Audi A9 Concept would be a competitor to the likes of the Porsche Panamera.
The most imaginative and far-out piece of this design has to be the one-piece glass roof and windshield which will be derived from a nano-technology material that should be created. This nano-tech material could repair itself in case of damage and would be able to alte tint and color on demand.
According to Garcia his design is influenced by “La Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias” (The City of Arts and Sciences) in Valencia (by architect Santiago Calatrava), Garcia’s native city.
A hybrid drivetrain with a traditional engine operating with four electric motors in each wheel would power the A9.
In an “electronic painting” system, designed for the body, the driver will be able to choose the color of the car at the touch of a button.
