When cooking, there are times when it is hard for the cook to turn the oven knobs, the faucets or any of my other kitchen controls. I suppose that we are headed for an age when every phone will be a touch screen, though most of the operating systems in our kitchens are old-school at best.
COMPAC has introduced Digital Surfaces, which is an electric keypad concept, designed to work with the surface of the kitchen for much better control. You can see that right next the faucet there are controls. It doesn’t look like I’ll be turning anything for cold and hot water, and I hope it is easy to turn it on and off as hitting one kill switch.
It should be noted that integration of this electronic keypad into the kitchen counter may be very expensive, and it should probably be resistant to kitchen mess as well water-proof. Probably it will be much easier to clean these things than the oven range.
In any case, I suppose that kitchens of the future will be equipped with such surfaces. It will probably be easier to manufacture the technology, and all future kitchens will have the Digital Surface. Then one day a little girl or boy will not understand what a modern day faucet is.
