Inspired by a Japanese fan, an as-yet-nonexistent flexible LCD color touchscreen is used for this design concept for a Nokia cellphone that opens in case you push the button in the middle. It looks like this piece of fantasy art would be useful for making video phone calls to your relatives when being on vacation on Mars.
It’s not an easy task to get an idea of the scale of this concept by the artwork, but we hope that it’s not too big or it will look like a dildo in your pocket. Designed by Hugo Danti, it was awarded the first prize in the Nokia 4G Design Competition. By the time when scrollable touchscreen LCDs are created, this is a design concept that just might work.
However, the technology is getting close. Case in point: Epson’s flexible electronic paper, was announced as a technology demonstration but it hasn’t been practically created yet.
