Because of the rise of sea levels a small nation of the Maldives, which consists of 1,200 islands, is gradually disappearing. Making an attempt to save the islands, the representatives of the Maldives government has decided to come up with a number of concepts of “floating facilities” like the one you see on the photos.
Dutch Docklands/Dutch Watervalley is working in collaboration with the Maldives government on the development of the project. The creators have experience in designing many floating homes and they intend on creating tiered—and star-shaped—mini-cities which won’t be bothered by the rise of sea levels.
There is no information if there is a timeline for the project or not, but it is supposed that the creators will get around to complete it before the whole nation disappears.
